This Easter, we hosted a truly special event that brought creativity, storytelling, and springtime joy together in one magical place!
Our Easter Special Illustration Workshop, led by renowned children’s book author and illustrator Jo Rooks, was a memorable day filled with wonder, laughter and a whole lot of crafting fun.
Jo Rooks is best known for her beautifully illustrated children's books, including "A Box of Butterflies" and "Lucy’s Light". With her warm personality and deep passion for storytelling, Jo made sure every child felt inspired and confident to unleash their imagination. Her guidance turned simple materials into marvelous creations, leaving kids and parents alike in awe of their artistic potential.

🐣 What We Did – A Day Full of Easter-themed Creativity
From the moment the workshop began, the room buzzed with excitement and possibilities. Here's a little peek into the activities that kept our little creators smiling all day:
🎨 Marbled Easter Egg Craft
Using colorful inks and marbling techniques, every child created their own unique marbled Easter eggs. The swirling patterns were not only mesmerising but also taught kids about the art of colour blending and design.

🥚 What is Marbling?
Marbling is an art technique that creates beautiful, swirly patterns on surfaces using ink or paint. The effect resembles the veins found in marble stone — hence the name. It’s a fun, hands-on process that’s both relaxing and exciting to watch unfold step by step.
🐥 Hatching Chicks Craft
Next up, it was time for some adorable fun with our hatching chicks craft! Using paper, glue, and their vivid imaginations, children designed cheerful little chicks popping out of decorated eggs—perfect for celebrating spring and new beginnings.
Our Hatching Chick Craft was a total hit at the Easter Special Illustration Workshop! Little hands got busy bringing baby chicks to life with cheerful colours, fluffy feathers, and lots of imagination. This simple yet delightful craft captured the essence of Easter—new beginnings, springtime joy, and plenty of creativity!
✂️ What’s a Hatching Chick Craft?
A hatching chick craft is an interactive paper creation where children make a cute chick "pop out" from a hand-decorated eggshell. It not only sparks creativity but also lets kids explore ideas of movement and storytelling—especially when paired with their own Easter character or story.

Perhaps the most magical moment of the day—under Jo’s expert guidance, each participant invented their very own Easter character and crafted a mini story to go along with it! From bunny detectives to adventurous lambs, the tales we heard were full of creativity, humour, and heart.
